There are so many ways to get involved in making our community and the lives of those in our community better. Here are just a few:
The Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center (ARL) is very proud of the commitment and dedication of our volunteers. Over 500 individuals have chosen to help us come to the rescue of thousands of animals per year. The Animal rescue League has an enhanced safety and training program to provide new skills and learning, and to increase the adoptability of their animals. Animal handling volunteers will become more skilled in understanding animal behavior and communications and how to help modify behavior problems and fearfulness.
At the Wildlife Center, volunteers receive hands on experience working with Pennsylvania’s native wildlife and have the satisfaction of helping these injured and orphaned wild animals, who probably would not survive otherwise. Event and Outreach volunteers are responsible for the direct adoption of hundreds of animals each year. They help to give homeless pets much needed publicity and spread the word about the great work done by the ARL.

Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy them even more with your Little—and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.
